Medicaid may be available if you are an adult age 65 or older, blind, or disabled, and your income and resources are under certain limits.

Medicaid’s Benefit for Children and Adolescents Under Age 21
Medicaid offers broad healthcare coverage for children and adolescents, addressing their unique needs. Known as Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment Services (EPSDT), this benefit package offers comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health treatment services, as well as regular preventive care through the Health Check program.

North Carolina Health Choice (NCHC)
NCHC may provide health insurance for your children between ages 6 - 18 if you make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but too little to afford other insurance.

Early Intervention Services
Early Intervention Services for infants and toddlers with special needs are provided through Children’s Developmental Service Agencies.

Medicaid may be available if you are blind or disabled, and your income and resources are under certain limits.

Health Coverage for Workers with Disabilities
Health Coverage for Workers with Disabilities provides individuals ages 16 - 64 have a disability the opportunity to work and still receive Medicaid.

Care Coordination for Children (CC4C)
CC4C is a free, voluntary program that helps you find services for children at risk for, or diagnosed with, a developmental delay or disability, long-term illness or social, emotional disorders.

Community Alternatives Program (CAP) 
CAP helps children and adults with disabilities receive long-term care services in their home rather than living in a nursing home or other institution.

Be Smart Family Planning Program
Be Smart Family Planning Program offers counseling, birth control, exams and referrals.

Maternal Support Services (Baby Love Program) 
Maternal Support Services helps pregnant women learn about the changes during pregnancy, prepare for labor and delivery, and understand the first 60 days after your baby is born.

Pregnancy Medical Homes 
Pregnancy Medical Homes provide you with a case manager who stays in close contact with your doctor throughout the pregnancy. Services match your individual needs.

I’m looking for help with mental health, behavior or substance abuse

Behavioral Health Services
Behavioral Health Services meet specific preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative and other needs in a variety of settings.

I have a chronic illness, like cancer or HIV

Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program
If you are eligible for Medicaid, the HIPP program helps pay your employer’s health insurance premiums if you have a high-risk illness and cannot afford your premiums.

HIV Case Management
HIV Case Management helps find and access resources, coordinate services and contain overall cost.

I have Medicare

Medicare-Aid is a free Medicaid program that may help pay your Medicare premiums, copayments and deductibles if you have Medicare and limited income and resources.

I’m 65 or older

Medicaid is available if you are 65 or older, and your income and resources are under certain limits.

Medicare is a federal program available to people age 65 or older, and for those who have a special condition or disability.

Seniors Health Insurance Information Program 
Seniors Health Insurance Information Program counselors provide free information about Medicare to beneficiaries and caregivers.

Personal Care Services 
Personal Care Services assist people who need help eating, dressing, bathing, toileting or mobility.

Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) 
PACE manages all the health and medical needs of the elderly to keep them out of the hospital or nursing facility for as long as possible.

Money Follows the Person Project 
Money Follows the Person helps those who live in inpatient facilities to move into their homes and communities.

Nursing Facilities 
Nursing Facilities provide daily licensed nursing care when services at an acute care hospital are not necessary.

Adult Day Health Services 
Adult Day Health Services are residences for elderly and adults with disabilities who may require 24-hour supervision and help with activities of daily living.
