Community Alternatives Program for Children Amended Waiver Application Approved

<p>The Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP) &sect;1915( c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver application has been amended and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), effective May 1, 2020.&nbsp;</p>

The Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP) §1915( c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver application has been amended and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), effective May 1, 2020. The amended CAP/C waiver will provide the following HCBS: 
a.     Assistive technology
b.    CAP/C in-home aide 
c.    Case management
d.    Care advisor
e.    Community transition
f.    Home accessibility and adaptation
g.   Participant goods and services 
h.   Financial management
i.    Pediatric nurse aide
j.    Respite services, institutional and in-home 
k.   Specialized medical supplies 
l.    Training, education and consultative services
m.  Vehicle modification

The amended waiver will provide the following new HCBS: 
a.    Goods and services: individual-directed, non-medical transportation, nutritional services, pest eradication
b.    Pre-modified vehicles, when the criteria are met 

The amended waiver will assess medical fragility using more inclusive criteria.  

Representatives from CAP/C case management entities shall communicate the renewal of the CAP/C §1915(c) HCBS waiver to the following stakeholders:
•    CAP/C waiver beneficiaries 
•    CAP/C primary caregivers 
•    Individuals interested in CAP/C
•    CAP providers
•    Primary physicians and discharge planners
•    Other community referral agents
