NCDHHS has announced additional enhancements to NC FAST’s ePASS, the online portal that enables individuals to apply for and manage their Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services (FNS). This latest upgrade incorporates the option for a Spanish version of the home screen, navigation tools and all content, as well as the ability to complete the entire application process online in Spanish. Prior to the update, Spanish applications were only available with a paper form. This enhancement expands remote access to vital services to a wider population while continuing to assist applicants in maintaining social distancing when applying for these programs.
These changes do not impact any previously submitted application. Any questions about existing applications will still be directed to the local County DSS office.
Earlier this summer, NCDHHS provided an improved user experience on both desktop and mobile devices that helps support social distancing and beneficiary applications from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. These updates included:
- Improved look and feel making navigation easier on mobile devices
- Fewer questions included on the application
- Applicants only answer questions that are applicable to them
- Personalized dashboards with important account information and notifications
- Guidance throughout the site based on frequently asked questions
- Ability to attach documents easily
- Links to relevant program information
- Links to paper applications and voter registration
