The Medicaid NCCI edits for the most recent quarter are published on the CMS website.

The purpose of the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) program is to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding that leads to inappropriate payment of claims.

NC Medicaid applies NCCI and Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) editing to all Physician Administered Drug Program (PADP) drug claims. The Medicaid NCCI edits for the most recent quarter are published on the CMS website.

Effective April 7, 2022, the PADP Catalog will no longer list Max Daily Units. Also, Max Monthly Units will be renamed to NC Suggested Max Monthly Units. A link to the CMS NCCI/MUE page will be provided on each catalog posting.

PHPs will also apply NCCI/MUE edits as outlined.
