Co-Pays Cannot be Charged to Medicaid or NC Health Choice Beneficiaries for Vaccinations Administered at a Pharmacy

Certain vaccinations must be offered to Medicaid-eligible beneficiaries without a co-pay charge.

Attention: Immunizing Pharmacists

NC Medicaid allows beneficiaries to be vaccinated at a participating retail pharmacy in accordance with the NC Board of Pharmacy and State of North Carolina mandates. Immunizing pharmacists may administer:

  • Pneumococcal
  • Zoster
  • Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A
  • Meningococcal, Serogroup B Meningococcal vaccine
  • Tetanus, Tentanus-Diptheria
  • Influenza
  • Human Papillomavirus
  • COVID 

These vaccinations must be offered to Medicaid-eligible beneficiaries without a co-pay charge. No other type of fee may be charged to the Medicaid or NC Health Choice beneficiary for receiving the vaccination(s) at a participating pharmacy.
