Provider Selection of Electronic Visit Verification Vendor Required for Jan. 1, 2021 Implementation

Friday, December 11, 2020

NC Medicaid’s Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system will launch on Jan. 1, 2021, for State Plan Personal Care Services and Community Alternatives Programs for Children and Disabled Adults (CAP/DA and CAP/C).

Providers subject to EVV are required to utilize an electronic verification system to capture in-home visits to align with the state and federal guidelines. The enrollment or selection of an EVV vendor must be made by Dec. 18, 2020, to ensure NC Medicaid meets the Jan. 1, 2021 deadline for implementation.

Sandata was awarded the contract with the State to provide these services. If your agency has not enrolled with Sandata or a third-party alternate EVV vendor by Dec. 18, 2020, your agency will be required to enroll with Sandata for the initial EVV launch. After initial launch, a change to an alternative EVV vendor can be made. Providers are to ensure there is no disruption in visit capture during the transition.

To prepare for the enrollment with Sandata, training is being provided. Registration information can be found at the link below.

If you are the EVV primary point of contact for your agency, your next steps are to:

  • Register for and complete EVV contact/administrator training.
  • Provide the webinar registration link to your office staff so they can sign up for training webinars.
  • Provide the video Library link to your office staff so they can view the videos as self-paced training.

Additional information on the training process is available on the NC Medicaid EVV webpage under Provider Meetings and Trainings.
