Electronic Visit Verification Implementation Update: Alternate EVV Solution Deadline for Compliance

To ensure NC Medicaid continues to move forward with EVV implementation and can fully integrate EVV through claims adjudication for all providers, alternate EVV solutions must pass testing validation by April 30, 2021. If the solution has not passed testing by April 30, 2021, provider agencies enrolled with the solution will be required to enroll with the State’s EVV solution, Sandata, by no later than May 15, 2021, to ensure they are compliant with EVV requirements.

On March 29, 2021, NC Medicaid issued communication informing the provider community of the extension of the Pay and Report period for claims processing. The extension allowed completion of testing for alternate EVV solutions that had not passed testing validation. To date, there remain several alternate EVV solutions that have not passed testing validation. Until the EVV solution has passed validation and production credentials are released, the EVV solution is not able to send EVV data to Sandata for the provider agencies they support.

It is imperative that provider agencies not currently utilizing Sandata contact their alternate EVV solution to confirm that they have passed their testing validation and that their agency EVV data is being sent to Sandata. Agencies using an alternate EVV solution should have received their production credentials from Sandata and should have the ability to view their EVV visits in the Sandata solution. Each NPI an agency bills under must have a separate Sandata account. For example, if an agency bills for EVV services under three NPIs, three aggregator accounts are created. The agency must contact Sandata to add the additional accounts in the aggregator.

Provider agencies can enroll with Sandata by following the instructions provided in the NC Training Announcement available on the NC Medicaid EVV webpage.

Alternate EVV solutions that have passed validation must immediately begin sending visits into Sandata.  Solutions that encounter errors that prevent submission of files into Sandata or solutions that have not completed testing should contact Sandata Alternate EVV Support at NCAltEVV@Sandata.com or the support line at 844-289-4246.
