In 2010, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services revised section Q of the MDS Assessment to identify beneficiaries currently residing in nursing facilities who may be interested in talking with someone about transitioning back into the community.
The Division of Health Services Regulation and other community organizations have been using the Department of Health and Human Services Customer Service Center to route Section Q referrals to local contact agencies.
Kepro, now Acentra, was recently awarded the contract as the Comprehensive Independent Assessment Entity (CIAE) for NC Medicaid, which includes the dispensation of Section Q referrals.
Beginning Nov. 6, 2023, Section Q referrals should be made to the Acentra Call Center at 833-522-5429 or faxed to 833-470-0597.
