More than 600,000 North Carolinians Newly Eligible for NC Medicaid Today

Updated toolkit available to learn who will be eligible for NC Medicaid, when and how to apply.

Beginning today, more than 600,000 North Carolinians will be able to get NC Medicaid under new eligibility rules. Nearly half have already been automatically enrolled because they previously had limited benefits through Family Planning Medicaid and are now eligible for full Medicaid.

In marking this milestone, Governor Roy Cooper said, "After years of fighting for high-quality health care for every person in our state, today’s launch of Medicaid expansion means more than 600,000 North Carolinians can now access the care they need to stay healthier, treat sickness earlier and have the peace of mind knowing health care is within their reach. Together with our partners in communities across the state, we will get the word out and help more people sign up for this life-changing care.”

That’s why we are reaching out to you. North Carolinians need your help – the people and groups they trust – to learn who will be eligible for NC Medicaid, when and how to apply. Please use our updated toolkit to get people the information they need and sign up to stay informed and volunteer.
