Family Planning Medicaid
The NC Medicaid Family Planning Program is designed to reduce unintended pregnancies and improve the well-being of children and families in North Carolina. Family planning, reproductive health and contraceptive services are provided to eligible people of all reproductive ages and genders, whose income is at or below 195% of the federal poverty level, with no age restrictions. All services are free and confidential.
Eligibility and Enrollment
Medicaid-enrolled providers whose licensure and accreditations allow them to provide family planning services are automatically eligible for and enrolled in the Family Planning Medicaid Program.
Family Planning Medicaid services may be provided by:
- Ambulatory surgery centers
- Certified registered nurse anesthetists
- Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC)
- Free-standing birthing centers
- Laboratories
- Local health departments
- Nurse midwives
- Nurse practitioners
- Outpatient hospitals
- Physicians
- Rural health clinics
- Urologists
