Delegated enrollment, or delegated credentialing, is when one organization authorizes another to carry out the enrollment and credentialing activities of its healthcare practitioners. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) offers a Multipayer System to enroll/credential providers for NC Medicaid, Division of Mental Health. Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services (DMH/DD/SUS), Division of Public Health (DPH), Office of Rural Health (ORH) and all NC Medicaid Managed Care health plans.
Our delegation agreements are open to qualifying North Carolina hospitals and large health care systems only. When there is an approved delegation agreement, and the enrollment and credentialing activities performed by the entity meet all National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards, as well as federal and state regulations, NCDHHS allows for a single enrollment and credentialing experience for all the payers of NC Medicaid.
