NC Medicaid Ambassador Initiative

The NC Medicaid Ambassador Initiative is a community service through which trained volunteers, known as ambassadors, help people apply for NC Medicaid using ePASS.nc.gov and HealthCare.gov. The goal is to make sure everyone can get the health coverage they need. Ambassadors give clear information and trusted help to build healthier communities across North Carolina.

Choosing the Right Help for You

If you need help applying for NC Medicaid, you can choose one of these:

Medicaid Ambassadors 

  • Answer questions about the Medicaid application.
  • Guide you step-by-step through ePASS.nc.gov.
  • Helps with any application-related questions.
  • Cannot complete an application for you.

NC Navigators

  • Give free, in-person help.
  • Explain your health insurance options.
  • Helps you apply for NC Medicaid or Marketplace coverage.
  • Helps you choose a plan.

Local Department of Social Services (DSS)

  • Let’s you apply in person, by mail, fax, or phone.
  • Process all applications and decides if you are eligible.
  • Answers questions about your application.
  • Helps you update your information (like address or income).
