Skilled Nursing Facility Ventilator Services

The Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Benefits (DHB), hereby provides notice of its intent to amend the NC Medicaid State Plan to remove rate freeze language applicable to Skilled Nursing Facilities providing intensive services to ventilator dependent Medicaid beneficiaries. This amendment re-establishes rate negotiable reimbursement methodologies that currently exist in the NC Medicaid State Plan. This amendment will become effective August 1, 2026.

The annual estimated State fiscal impact of this change is:

  1. SFY 2027 $ 331,902
  2. SFY 2028 $ 342,821
