Behavioral Health I/DD Tailored Plans

North Carolina will launch specialized managed care plans, called BH I/DD Tailored Plans, starting in 2021. These plans are designed for those with significant behavioral health (BH) needs and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DDs). BH I/DD Tailored Plans will also serve other special populations, including Innovations and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waiver enrollees and waitlist members.

Upcoming Meetings

Meetings are open to the public.

DHHS will host a webinar on BH I/DD Tailored Plan Care Management. This webinar will provide an overview of the planned approach to care management for beneficiaries enrolled in BH I/DD Tailored Plans, including the vision for managing beneficiaries' total needs across medical, behavioral and unmet health-related resource needs through care management; an overview of BH I/DD Tailored Plan and provider roles and responsibilities under the model; specific requirements of the model; and relationships with waiver and other existing programs. On March 18, 2019 DHHS released a final policy guidance paper on these key concepts. The full paper can be found at
