Medicaid for Pregnant Beneficiaries Coverage Limitations End March 31, 2022
NC Medicaid coverage for pregnant beneficiaries extends to the last day of the month in which the 12-month postpartum period ends.

Effective April 1, 2022, NC Medicaid coverage for pregnant beneficiaries will extend to the last day of the month in which the 12-month postpartum period ends.

Per NC Senate Bill 105 Session Law 2021-180 Section 9D.13 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Medicaid for Pregnant Beneficiaries (MPW) coverage limitations will end on March 31, 2022. Claims processed with a service date prior to April 1, 2022 will still be subject to the limitations.

Per the related Medicaid bulletin, effective April 1, 2022, NC Medicaid coverage for pregnant beneficiaries will extend to the last day of the month in which the 12-month postpartum period ends. All Medicaid beneficiaries with MPW coverage will be eligible to receive full Medicaid benefits for the duration of pregnancy and the extended 12-month postpartum period effective April 1, 2022. No pregnancy related limits are applicable on or after April 1, 2022, except for those limits related to emergency-only services.
