Diagnosis Revisions for Chiropractic Services

Effective Aug. 1, 2024, Medicaid will require a primary diagnosis of spinal subluxation for NC Medicaid Direct claims.

This bulletin applies to NC Medicaid Direct.

Effective Aug. 1, 2024, Medicaid will require a primary diagnosis of spinal subluxation for NC Medicaid Direct claims. Claims for dates of service on or after Aug. 1, 2024, without a spinal subluxation diagnosis will deny.

In addition, the use of a secondary diagnosis will no longer be required for dates of service on or after August 1.

NC Medicaid Clinical Policy 1F, Chiropractic Services is in the process of being amended to reflect this change.
