What Happens When You Get an NC Innovations Waiver Slot
When your time on the waitlist is over and a slot is available, here is what happens next:
1. You are notified by phone and mail
Your Local Management Entity/Managed Care Organization (LME/MCO) will try to contact you four times by phone and mail. This is the organization that manages the NC Innovations Waiver for your county.
TIP: Keep your information updated so you can be notified. If your LME/MCO cannot contact you, they will move on to the next person and you could lose your spot. To update your information, call your LME/MCO.
2. Eligibility is confirmed
Next, the LME/MCO will review your eligibility for the NC Innovations waiver. This process requires an updated psychological evaluation from a doctor or licensed psychologist (completed within the last three years).
3. Someone is assigned to help you
Once your documentation has been approved, a Tailored Care Manager or care coordinator will help you get started with services.
With your input, they will create an Individual Support Plan to outline which services are needed. This process begins with your vision of what you would like your day to look like or how you want to participate in your services.
4. Services begin
After your Individual Support Plan is approved, services will begin within 45 calendar days.
