On December 1, 2023, NC Medicaid expanded to cover people ages 19 through 64 up to 138% of the federal poverty line. That’s about $1,730/month for singles and $2,970/month for families of three.
NC Medicaid covers most health services. It includes doctor visits, check-ups, emergency care, dental care, vision and hearing services, prescription drugs, maternity and postpartum care, hospital services, behavioral health, preventive and wellness services, medical-related devices and more.
There is no monthly fee and copays are never more than $4.
You can get health care coverage through NC Medicaid if:
- You live in North Carolina,
- You are a citizen (some non-U.S. citizens can qualify),
- And if your household income meets the eligibility criteria
