WellCare of North Carolina and Carolina Complete Health to Merge April 1, 2026
WellCare of North Carolina and Carolina Complete Health will merge April 1, 2026. The name of the unified NC Medicaid Managed Care health plan will be Carolina Complete Health. The new health plan will be available to Medicaid beneficiaries statewide.
A letter was sent to current WellCare members to let them know of the upcoming change. Basic benefits will stay the same and most members will keep their current primary care provider.
In preparation for the merger, Carolina Complete Health created webpages for providers and members.
Provider Resources
Providers in WellCare’s network and the current Carolina Complete Health’s network will automatically be included in the network of the new unified health plan. For more information, visit the Carolina Complete Health Provider Merger webpage, which includes what to expect, frequently asked questions and upcoming training.
A list of Carolina Complete Health and WellCare vendors is also available to view.
Beneficiary Resources
Members of both WellCare and the current Carolina Complete Health plans will automatically become enrolled members of the new unified health plan. Members of the current Carolina Complete Health plan will be offered a choice period from March 1 through May 31, 2026.
