School-Based Services Provided by Local Education Agencies

Background

School-Based Services (SBS) Provided by Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are direct healthcare services provided to a Medicaid beneficiary in the school environment. These services are designed to improve access to medically necessary physical and behavioral healthcare. SBS are billed by the NC Medicaid enrolled LEA and are provided by employed or contracted personnel of the LEA. 

Services include:

• Audiology (AUD);
• Occupational Therapy (OT);
• Physical Therapy (PT);
• Speech-Language Pathology (SLP);
• Behavioral Health; and
• Nursing Services
