Dental Services are diagnostic, preventive or corrective procedures provided or supervised by a dentist, including services to:

  • Treat disease
  • Maintain oral health
  • Treat injuries or impairments that may affect a beneficiary’s oral or general health

Orthodontic services are defined as corrective procedures for functionally impairing malocclusions.

Medicaid has adopted procedure codes and descriptions in the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT 2015). CDT-2015 (including procedure codes, descriptions and other data) is copyrighted by the American Dental Association.

The Education sessions were hosted by the NC Medicaid Dental Policy Team and the Office of Compliance & Program Integrity The session included updates in dental policy, an overview of the role of OCPI, a review of the dental post payment program and the process of pre-payment.
