The Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP/C) is an NC Medicaid program that provides the option to help children with serious medical needs to get care at home instead of in a facility.
CAP/C Eligibility
To be eligible for CAP/C, the beneficiary must:
- Be children ages 0-20
- Be medically fragile with complete medical needs
- Meet a level of care
- Need at least one service through CAP/C (based on a needs assessment)
Assessing Eligibility
To get CAP/C services, a beneficiary must be approved for long-term care NC Medicaid in one of these categories:
- Medicaid Assistance for the Blind (MAB)
- Medicaid Assistance for the Disabled (MAD)
The person must be enrolled in NC Medicaid Direct to get CAP/C services. Some people might not qualify for Medicaid to receive CAP/C due to their disability or income.
Some adults who get CAP/C services may have to pay a monthly cost called a deductible (This cost depends on the person's income).
