Private Duty Nursing (PDN) is special, ongoing care that provides skilled nursing services at home. It is extra care to help someone when their family, foster parents or other caregivers need nursing support.
PDN is for people with complex health needs who need more help than a visiting nurse or the care provided in a hospital or nursing facility.
What does a private duty nurse do?
- Give medicine
- Assist with medical machines, like oxygen or breathing machines
- Help with medical needs
Eligibility
To get PDN services, a person must:
- Have an NC Medicaid card
- Qualify for Private Duty Nursing based on program rules
